Call it country-weathered-emo-easy listening jazz folklore if you like, Charles J Tan is a pop artist with a sound melding from the acoustic blues of Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, John Mayer with the poetic sensibilities of the 90s such as Counting Crows, Tracy Chapman and gospel artists like Bebo Norman.
As an accomplished performing-songwriter, Charles won Melbourne’s Storytellers’ Competition and finishing in the Top 50 in the Australia-wide MusicOz awards. He’s wrapped up a mini-tour of Singapore early this year, and is about to set off for Nashville, Tennessee for the NSAI’s Songposium in September.
